The National Research Fund (NRF) was represented by its CEO, Prof. Dickson Andala, at the launch of the Climate Policy and Advocacy Training – Cohort I, hosted by AfriYouth Care Group at the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE), Nairobi, on 25 September 2026.

The launch was graced by H.E. Dr. Joyce G. N. Kithure, Second Lady of the Republic of Kenya, who delivered the keynote address, reaffirming the importance of science, evidence, innovation and partnerships in addressing climate and environmental challenges.

Hosted by KISE and welcomed by its Director, Dr. Norman Kiogora, the event brought together researchers, young climate advocates and partners, including Prof. David K. Kariuki of the University of Nairobi’s Department of Chemistry.

For NRF, the engagement underscores the importance of investing in research, innovation and young people as drivers of practical solutions to Kenya’s climate and environmental challenges.

Through initiatives such as SaVE Communities, H.E. Dr. Kithure continues to champion the application of science and technology to create solutions that benefit both communities and the environment.
