NRF at the 2025 International Accreditation Pre-Conference
The National Research Fund (NRF) was pleased to take part in the 2025 International Accreditation Pre-Conference held in Nairobi. The event brought together key stakeholders in research, development, and financial governance to explore ways of enhancing transparency and trust in grant management systems.
NRF was represented by an official who delivered a presentation on behalf of the Fund’s Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Dickson Andala. The session highlighted NRF’s legal mandate, its achievements since establishment, and its growing role in supporting credible and impactful research across the country. Among the distinguished guests was Mr. Abubakar Hassan Abubakar, Principal Secretary, State Department of Industry, Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry.
In remarks shared on Prof. Andala’s behalf, the presentation emphasized the importance of Good Financial Grant Practices (GFGP) and called on researchers and institutions to uphold these standards to boost funding opportunities. Prof. Andala noted that adherence to such practices is key to attracting investment from both local and international partners.
The presentation also reaffirmed NRF’s commitment to supporting research that aligns with the government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) and to working collaboratively with stakeholders to drive national development through science, technology, and innovation.
The Pre-Conference serves as a precursor to the International Accreditation Conference set for November 2025, where further conversations on institutional sustainability and research funding governance will continue.
NRF remains dedicated to fostering a robust research ecosystem by promoting high standards in financial accountability and aligning research with national priorities.
