NRF and KENAS Explore Quality-Focused Collaboration in Research and Innovation

In line with ongoing stakeholder outreach ahead of the Kenya National Research Festival (KNRF) 2025, the National Research Fund (NRF) paid a courtesy visit to the Kenya Accreditation Service (KENAS). The visit was led by NRF CEO Prof. Dickson Andala, accompanied by Festival Chair Prof. Vasey Mwaja.

The engagement focused on potential areas of collaboration in advancing quality assurance within the research ecosystem. Discussions centred around how standards, accreditation, and institutional credibility contribute to impactful research outputs and national competitiveness. Both NRF and KENAS highlighted the importance of building trust in research processes and outputs through compliance with global best practices.

KENAS pledged its support for KNRF 2025 and expressed interest in partnering with NRF on initiatives that promote excellence, reliability, and global competitiveness in Kenyan research. The visit also opened the door for future technical collaboration on developing accreditation frameworks tailored for research institutions, laboratories, and innovation hubs.
