NRF and APHRC Sign MoU to Strengthen Research and Innovation in Kenya
The National Research Fund (NRF) Kenya and the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) have formalized a strategic partnership through the signing of an MoU, signaling a shared commitment to advancing research and innovation in Kenya and across Africa.
This collaboration is designed to leverage the strengths of both institutions to strengthen research capacity, promote innovation, and support evidence-based solutions to development challenges. Through the MoU, NRF and APHRC aim to create opportunities for early career researchers, enhance domestic funding for research, and mobilize resources for scientific and technological innovation.
In addition, the partnership will foster closer connections between research and policy, ensuring that findings are effectively translated into practical solutions for societal challenges. By working together, the organizations hope to strengthen Kenya’s research ecosystem, encourage knowledge sharing, and contribute to Africa’s broader development agenda.
Speaking on the collaboration, NRF expressed optimism about the partnership’s potential to support high-quality research, nurture the next generation of scientists, and accelerate innovation that can drive economic and social development. APHRC highlighted that the MoU will enable both institutions to pool expertise and resources, amplifying the impact of their work across health, population, and development sectors.
This MoU marks a significant milestone in Kenya’s journey toward a robust, well-funded, and innovative research landscape, with both NRF and APHRC committed to driving meaningful change through evidence-driven approaches.
