NRF Supports Landmark Conference on Land Reform Progress in Kenya

The National Research Fund (NRF), in partnership with the National Land Commission and the University of Nairobi, co-hosted the 4th Regional Research Conference on Land and Natural Resources from May 20 to 22, 2025, at the Kenya School of Government (KSG). Held under the theme “Taking Stock of the Land Reform Progress in Kenya,” the conference convened a wide range of stakeholders to reflect on Kenya’s land reform journey since the enactment of the 2010 Constitution.

The conference brought together government institutions, the judiciary, academia, civil society, and development partners to examine the legal, policy, and institutional reforms that have shaped land governance in Kenya over the past 15 years. Key topics included tenure security, historical land injustices, community land registration, sustainable land use, and digital innovations in land administration.

NRF also exhibited at the event, showcasing a selection of projects it has supported across diverse fields. The exhibition underscored NRF’s broader role in enabling research that addresses real-world challenges and informs policy across sectors.

The conference was an important platform for reflection, collaboration, and forward-looking dialogue, with NRF’s involvement reinforcing its commitment to supporting evidence-based policy, inclusive development, and sustainable land governance.
